In new PSQH paper, Bernoulli explores active monitoring of patients at risk for respiratory depression

Bernoulli Chief Nursing Officer Jeanne Venella, DNP, MS, RN, CEN, CPEN, and Chief Analytics Officer John Zaleski, PhD, CAP, CPHIMS, have published a new paper in PSQH on the unique challenges of—and innovative strategies for—alarm management and real-time data delivery in the care and management of patients at risk for respiratory depression.

The authors’ write, “The challenges associated with reducing respiratory events are significant and many, including the financial implications of adding costly monitoring devices and full-time, direct-care staff. Further, improvements to monitoring are clearly necessary.”

Venella and Zaleski explore potential technological, workflow and business solutions to this emerging patient safety issue. Read the article here.

Bernoulli Demonstrates Real-Time Patient Data and Waveform Delivery with Voalte and Connexall at HIMSS17

Bernoulli will join Voalte and Connexall for a unique integration demonstration delivering alerts paired with real-time patient data and waveforms to smartphones. The demonstration will be held at Booth 673 at the 2017 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition (HIMSS17) in Orlando next week. Click here for more details.

Bernoulli and PerfectServe to Demonstrate Real-Time Patient Data and Smart Alarms Distribution at HIMSS17

Presentation will offer clinicians insight into proactive patient intervention with clinical surveillance and secure mobile platforms

Milford, CT—February 9, 2017—Bernoulli and PerfectServe are teaming up at the 2017 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition (HIMSS17) in Orlando to demonstrate how clinicians can proactively respond to a patient’s condition with real-time clinical surveillance and alarm management data delivered through an integrated, secure mobile communication platform.

The demonstration will be available Monday, Feb. 20 through Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the PerfectServe booth (#3315), and will feature Bernoulli’s award-winning Bernoulli One™ solution, which enables real-time collection, aggregation, and distribution of patient-generated data (including alarms and waveforms), and PerfectServe Synchrony™, an integrated, secure, cloud-based communication platform with Dynamic Intelligent Routing to automatically identify and provide immediate connection to the right physician, nurse or other care team member who needs to take action.

A clinician’s ability to deliver timely interventions to patients at risk of deterioration is nearly impossible without anytime, anywhere access to real-time data. The demonstration will show how medical device and alarm data intelligently routed instantly through a secure mobile platform provides both those care team members within and outside the walls of the hospital with at-the-moment insights into a patient’s condition, rather than a static picture from the time of an alert.

“Teaming up with Bernoulli at the largest health IT conference in North America makes sense,” said Terry Edwards, CEO and President of PerfectServe. “The ability to intelligently route real-time data anytime and from anywhere in the care environment to the right care team member who can take quick action remains a significant challenge in healthcare.”

PerfectServe Synchrony is the healthcare industry’s most comprehensive clinical communication and care team collaboration platform, and features Dynamic Intelligent RoutingTM, a proprietary technology that automatically identifies and provides immediate connection to the right care team member who can take action in any clinical situation. Including both web and mobile applications for physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals, PerfectServe Synchrony specifically targets care team communication and collaboration obstacles that degrade care. Its single-platform architecture transcends geographic and organizational barriers to drive collaboration across all modalities, care settings and stakeholders.

“Combining PerfectServe’s mobile communications platform with our real-time clinical surveillance and alarm management solution, we can offer HIMSS17 attendees a clear path to proactive clinical intervention, enhanced care team collaboration, and significantly improved patient safety,” said Janet Dillione, CEO of Bernoulli.

Bernoulli One collects, aggregates, and distributes patient-generated data (including alarms and waveforms) from a broad range of medical devices in real-time. This provides caregivers with instant access to a holistic and medically contextual portrait of a patient’s condition, which is critical for timely clinical interventions and enhanced patient safety.

Zaleski explores MDDS middleware potential in new article

MDDS middleware making sure the pieces all fit

Bernoulli CIO John Zaleski published a new article on how middleware’s capabilities can move medical devices from charting to active patient monitoring and intervention. The piece appeared on Jan. 12, in MD+DI Online, an influential publication for medical device professionals.

Zaleski writes, “The breadth and scope of MDDS middleware’s capabilities facilitates ways in which hospitals… can leverage the data that flows from a device into a system of record. The use of the data to improve patient care management and clinical decision making comes immediately to mind—but that only scratches the surface of what is possible.”

Zaleski also explored the critical factors hospitals need to consider prior to implementation of middleware.
